Swallow Pouch and Happy Tears Bag

I made these for my best friend's birthday the other day. I really love how the swallow zippered pouch turned out - the blue on the red fabric really pops!

Here's a bigger look at the bag with the happy tears. In this photo you can also see out onto my balcony in all it's messy goodness. I really need to get cracking on doing some planting for spring. I'm thinking of forgetting the veggies this year and going for flowers, flowers, flowers. Impractlcal maybe, pretty, definitely.

Recent crafty endeavours

Item number one: multi-direction scarf. I love this pattern (which I nabbed from here. It looks amazing in variegated yarn (like this gorgeous number from Wee Wonderfuls) but I was impatient and wanted to knit it and all I had was this super chunky Gusto 10 from Cleckheaton to play with. I really like this stuff, it's an instant gratification yarn - you could knit this scarf in only a couple of hours.

spotty bag
Item number two: My new favourite bag! Ikea shoppers may recognise the fabric, they used it on cushions and a chair. They also sold the stuff by the metre at the store and I loved it so much I had to get some. I finally used it and made not only this bag, but a simple a-line skirt.

Pink Cupcakes/ sugar overload

Post one of my new blog. Hurrah! Another one to abandon. Look at those cakes! These are almost too pretty to eat. But not quite. Yellow cake cupcakes and pink icing is about as close to cakey perfection as you can get, I reckon.

I use the Magnolia Bakery cupcake recipe. Many people do not like this recipe. I don't know why. Everyone that eats my cakes says yum. So either they are lying liars or the recipe rocks and all you haters of that recipe have no taste at all in the cake department. Or cooked it wrong!
